Sensex and Nifty both hit fresh record highs on June 27. The gains were driven by IT stocks and strong Reliance Industries (RIL) performance.

The Sensex hit a new peak of 79,396.03 and closed 568 points up at 79,278.

The broader Nifty crossed the 24,000 mark for the first time. It also hit a lifetime high of 24,087.45. Nifty 50 closed 175 pts higher at 24,044.50.

Hong Kong’s Hang Seng Index: Closed with over 2% declines
China’s Shanghai Composite: Down nearly 1%
Singapore’s FTSE Straits Times Index: Up 0.35%

Currency Watch:
Indian Rupee ended stronger at 83.46 against the US dollar after a boost in inflows into domestic sovereign bonds. This comes after India recently entered into JPMorgan’s emerging market debt index.
