FIFA President Gianni Infantino has announced that each of the 11 U.S. cities set to host the FIFA Club World Cup 2025™ will receive a USD 1 million legacy contribution. The total USD 11 million investment is part of FIFA’s broader effort to strengthen soccer infrastructure and community engagement in the lead-up to two major global tournaments: the FIFA Club World Cup in 2025 and the FIFA World Cup™ in 2026.
The funds will go toward building mini-FIFA pitches and supporting local social initiatives designed to foster football and community development. The beneficiary cities include: Atlanta, Charlotte, Cincinnati, Los Angeles, Miami, Nashville, New York New Jersey, Orlando, Philadelphia, Seattle, and Washington, DC.
“This means ideally installing mini-pitches and organizing soccer activities with children in areas where they are most needed,” said Infantino. “It ensures the impact of this groundbreaking global tournament will be felt for years to come.”
The initiative coincides with the establishment of FIFA Foundation USA, which will drive community-centered programs and outreach across the United States. Infantino emphasized the organization’s commitment to providing accessible playing environments, a pressing need across North America.
“There are not enough facilities to play soccer in the right environment,” Infantino added. “To contribute something tangible in these cities is our responsibility—and I hope others will follow our lead.”
The legacy program is part of a wave of momentum building around the FIFA Club World Cup 2025, which will be the biggest and most inclusive edition ever, featuring 32 elite clubs from six confederations. The tournament kicks off in Miami on June 14, 2025, and concludes with the final at MetLife Stadium in New York New Jersey on July 13, 2025.
Recent research by OpenEconomics underscores the tournament’s far-reaching impact, projecting up to USD 21.1 billion in global GDP gains, including USD 9.6 billion in the U.S. alone. The competition is also expected to support approximately 105,000 jobs and generate USD 3.36 billion in social benefits across the United States.
FIFA has also continued to show solidarity with local communities. During his recent visit to Los Angeles, Infantino honored first responders affected by the January 2025 wildfires by allocating up to 30,000 free tickets to Club World Cup matches at the Rose Bowl Stadium.
This legacy commitment aligns with FIFA’s broader strategy to redistribute wealth across global football. The organization recently pledged USD 250 million in club solidarity payments worldwide, reaffirming its mission to make football truly global while safeguarding existing support to its 211 Member Associations.
