About NUSRL
It is with great pride that we introduce the National University of Study and Research in Law (NUSRL), Ranchi, an institution established under the National University of Study and Research in Law, Ranchi Act, 2010, by the Government of Jharkhand. The Rector of NUSRL is Hon’ble Governor of Jharkhand Shri Santosh Kumar Gangwar.
About the Chair
The Chair on Consumer Research and Policy (CCRP) was established at NUSRL, Ranchi in October 2024 by the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution Department of Consumer Affairs, Government of India, New Delhi, to promote research, teaching and training in Consumer law. The Chair acts as a “Think Tank” for the research and policy related issues on consumer law and also develop consumer affairs as a distinct subject of study both at Under Graduate & Post Graduate levels.
Eligibility
- Internship is open to students from recognized law institutions and universities.
- Students pursuing the following courses can apply:
- Second and third year of the Bachelor’s degree in Law (3-year course after graduation), or
- Second year onwards in the case of the integrated five-year course in Law.
- LLM students.
Required Skills & Interest
- Genuine interest in Consumer Laws.
- Strong research abilities, both qualitative and quantitative.
- Clear and effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage tasks efficiently.
- Capacity for collaborative teamwork and positive contributions to group dynamics.
- High ethical standards, academic integrity, and research honesty.
- Good project management skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to effectively use legal research tools such as Manupatra and SCC Online, etc.
- A strong understanding of legal subjects and the ability to build on this knowledge.
- Analytical ability to assess facts and laws and present them strategically.
Internship Scheme Details
- The internship is normally for a period of a minimum of 30 working days. There will be a short induction program on the provision of Consumer Laws on the first day of the internship.
- The Centre will guide interns in their study during the internship. Interns are required to:
- Present a paper/report on an assigned topic preliminarily within a week after joining the internship and finally towards the end of the internship (4 days before the last date of the internship).
- Submit a final report of the work carried out and make a presentation on it. Late submission of the report or submission after the internship period will not be accepted.
- The internship will be considered to be complete only on the submission of four original pieces on any area of consumer law.
- Only 5 students will be given the slot every month including offline and online internship.
- The internship is a full-time program, and hence interns are required to observe the official working hours of the Centre (9:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m., excluding lunch hours).
- Any absence during working hours may result in an extension of the internship period.
- The internship may be discontinued at any time if the performance of the intern is found unsatisfactory or if the intern is absent without authorization from the guide.
- Interns must maintain dignity, decorum, and discipline in the CCRP; failure to do so will result in termination of the internship.
- Interns shall not disclose any confidential information learned during and after the internship period without written consent from the Centre.
- Certificates will be issued to interns on successful completion of their internship and fulfilment.
How to Apply?
- Interested students may apply by sending an email to [email protected]. Applications in any other format will not be entertained. Candidates must submit a detailed write-up of approximately 1,000 words on Consumer Protection Laws along with their application.
- Applications should be submitted at least one month in advance, clearly mentioning the desired internship dates.
- Once accepted for the internship, applicants must send via email a recommendation from the competent authority of the academic institution where the candidate is pursuing their studies. Applications without recommendations will not be entertained (format attached as Annexure-A) and an undertaking as mentioned in Annexure B.
Stipend
No amount will be given as an honorarium during the internship.
