Real Madrid right-back Lucas Vazquez is expected to return from his injury for the Intercontinental Cup final on December 18, reports Arancha Rodriguez.

Vazquez — who got injured during the match against Osasuna on Saturday — got sidelined due to an adductor issue which will keep him out for a month, and puts Real Madrid in a bad situation as they don’t have any other right-backs available.

Here is the statement from the club about his injury:

“Following tests carried out today on our player Lucas Vázquez by the Real Madrid Medical Services, he has been diagnosed with an injury to the long adductor muscle of his left leg. Pending evolution.”

He is expected to return in five weeks time for the final of the Intercontinental Cup.

Real Madrid will have to figure out a way to keep going. Their only options are to trust the academy and get Jesus Fortea, Lorenzo Aguado or David Jimenez into the squad, or play Fede Valverde in place of the Spanish full-back.
