Can you tell us a little bit about yourself and your background?

Hello Everyone, I am Mr. Sunil Kalagi from Karnataka. I had pursued my degree in engineering discipline and I had also done masters in medical engineering from UK. Currently I am doing 3 YR LLB Degree and I am in final year.

How did you get interested in your field of study?

Over the period of Career and my Life what I encountered is every field and our daily life routine and works are connected directly or indirectly with the law field. Also I understood that I must be knowing only small percentage of legal knowledge.

When I saw so many people facing legal issues in and around family and friends, that motivated me to get into the field and do the service to the family friends and needy people. Holding a law degree enables me to contribute into my engineering field and also society.

What do you consider to be your biggest accomplishment in college so far?

The moment I joined the course I had the opportunity to get into legal research paper competitions. I had previous knowledge of doing research in engineering and that experience helped me to explore the legal field.

I grabbed and used the opportunities whenever I got chance to participate in competitions. I won First prize as Principle Investigator in Legal Research Paper Competition on Black Marketing. Later again I won first prize doing Legal Research Paper presentation on Euthanasia Lex Ultimate 2021 National Level Competition. I was able to put my heart and soul into the legal field.

How do you balance your academics with extracurricular activities and work?

I usually enjoy reading the books and doing research on legal topics. I also have fixed some time in the evening for academic work. I do take off time for family and friends without compromising much of my academic work.

How do you stay current with developments in your field?

I always look for the ongoing competitions and also attend webinars. There I will be able to know what are the current trends going in Legal Field. For example Legal Issues in Crypto currency, Artificial Intelligence in Law.

How do you plan to apply what you’ve learned in college to your future career?

What I first learnt in college was there is a need of passion and hard work to attain our goals. When you have desire then hard work becomes more enjoyable and learning. I will carry this attitude when I become lawyer.

I will not stop exploring the new trends and seeking for new knowledge and opportunities.

What motivates you?

The biggest motivation is there is opportunity to serve the society and there is lot of pride wearing black coat just like a soldier wearing his army and feels proud of carrying national duty.

What are your interests or hobbies?

My other hobbies are playing cricket and sometime watching the shows and movies. It helps me ensure my overall physical and mental wellbeing.

What are some of the existing challenges the students face in this college?

There is a lack of awareness on the students side about potential in law field. They do not use the online and library resources well. Lack of communication is also one of the issues in students.

What are your strengths and weakness? How are you working on improving them?

My strengths are my goals vision along with my confidence. I go in depth to seek the information. I use my all analytical skills to plan and finish my job. I think, I lack consistency in between which is my weakness or we can say my over confidence. But I have kept improving my consistency.
