Real Madrid won 6-0 against Levante on matchday 8 of Liga F. Below are my views and thoughts on the match.

Misa started on goal. The CB duo of Lakrar and Méndez with Antonia and Olga on the fullbacks made up the defense. It was a 4-4-2 with Leupolz and Teresa in the middle, and Athenea and Angeldahl on the wings. Feller and Redondo made the striker duo.

Las Blancas controlled the game from the beginning. Despite having two wingers on the pitch, Angeldahl served as the left winger working with Olga when going wide and with Teresa when starting the action from behind. Even though there weren’t many plays through the right-hand side and Athenea, she got the two openers by being on the receiving end in the center of the penalty area.

The game died down when it started to look interesting on both ends when Levante’s goalkeeper Tarazona had a handball action in a 1-on-1 vs Feller and received a red card. There was another handball later in the first half, this time inside the penalty area giving a penalty to Real Madrid. Olga took it to the spot and skied it.

Feller got subbed off at halftime after going down at the last play of the first half. Eva Navarro got on.

No more Angeldahl gravitating toward the wide areas since Athenea took the left-wing spot and Navarro went to the right wing. Later on with the substitutions, the formation became dynamic and changed with nearly every new action.

The substitution of Oihane for Lakrar in 53′ was when the formation turned fluid. Oihane played in a back three as the left CB, with Méndez in the middle and Antonia as the RCB. The only support Navarro had on the right was Leupolz and Antonia at times when she would leave her position to run up. The play gravitated a lot toward the left side with all 4 of Oihane, Olga, Angeldahl and Athenea covering that side.

In 61′, the double substitution of Bruun and Camacho for Redondo and Athenea brought 2 more goals. Angeldahl now went to the right side, especially got active there after Leupolz got subbed of for Møller later on. However, it wasn’t the same dynamic as with Olga and Tere on the left-hand side.

  • 12′: GOAL (1-0) by Athenea del Castillo: A carry on the left side by Olga followed by a combination with Redondo in the box to then send in a cross to Athenea in the middle of the penalty area.
  • 45+4′: GOAL (2-0) by Athenea del Castillo: Leupolz recovered the ball Holmgren kicked out to get it to Angeldahl. She went on a run, combining with Feller before entering the box, then running inside, receiving it and passing it sideways to Athenea.
  • 46′: GOAL (3-0) by Alba Redondo: Tere recovered a failed clearance from Levante, then sent the ball to Alba who shot it into the far inner corner. She doesn’t celebrate against her former club.
  • 66′: GOAL (4-0) by Teresa Abelleira: What a strike!
  • 68′: GOAL (5-0) by Signe Bruun: a solid pass by Navarro to Carla allowed the youngster to go up to the goal line, make a turn and cross it to the center of the box where Bruun was waiting.
  • 89′: GOAL (6-0) by Caroline Møller: A great long ball by Angeldahl to Olga who then sent it to Møller waiting in front of the goal. With this goal, all strikers in the squad have gotten a direct goal contribution.

Relaxing 3 points to secure the second place in the table, going +9 on the city rivals Atleti.
