The Daily Merengue is a place where you can feel free to discuss all things football. Do not be alarmed by the overt RMCF bias. It’s in the name!

Shoutout to the mods who do a fantastic job, Valyrian Steel, Felipejack, Juninho, NeRObutBlanco and yours truly, Kung_Fu_Zizou

Turkey held on against Ralf Ragnick’s men to reach the QF of Euro 2024. Arda Guler was on set-piece duty with captain Calhanoglou not available for the game. The youngster once again looked very comfortable in deadball situations, taking both corners from which Turkey scored their goals.

Deployed as a false 9, he was always looking to find space and help his team control the ball. He also worked tirelessly off the ball. Often dropping deep to help out his teammates to disrupt Austria’s possession. Another enocuraging performance from the Turk. Anything is possible when they face the Dutch in the QF.. Arda will have yet another chance to shine on the big stage.

There is always something undeniable about the courage to dare to reach the extraordinary. It often mimics delusion. Nobody can see a way out but the faithful find it in themselves to make away. Arda Guler fits right in at the Bernabeu. Talent is never enough, you need to have courage and he’s got that in spades.
