England with another underwhelming display remain top of their group with 4 points. The upside to England’s start is that it is unlikely they can do much worse going forward. Jude Bellingham seldom has a poor performance. He’s not never a slacker but he was unable to really put his stamp on the game. As a player with high standards, he will not have been impressed with his performance.

Lightwork – Spain into R16

Spain predictably made their way comfortably into the round of 16 with a game to spare. There are not too many teams in the competition that are better than Spain. They will head into the R16 as one of the favourites to win.

Silly Season and Other Stories

Joselu – Quedate?

Joselu seems more and more likely to get his wish to stay for another season. Carlo is fond of the Spaniard and did not miss an opportunity to sub him on in important games. He will be an important option for Carlo next season as the only traditional number 9 in the squad.

Franco En Route?

Franco Mastantuono is a prodigious 16 year old talent who has been on Juni Calafat’s radar for a while now. The Argentine youngster turns 18 in August of 2025 and is highly-rated by top clubs in Europe. One can expect Chelsea to try to sign the youngster one of these days.

Marvin The Canary Islander

A graduate of La Fabrica, Marvin had the opportunity to play for the first team under Zidane during the infamous injury crisis of 2020/21. He was not able to make his stay in the first team after that but has gone one to start carving out a place for himself in top division football. Good luck Marvin!

How Are The Kids

Paul Iago has been unhappy at the club for a while now and it was always likely he would want to leave. Iago is one of the best young talents in Spain and will be highly sought after which is probably why he’s decided to leave.
